Aroos meansbride.

Families come in weeks before a wedding. The mother, the aunts, the bride, sometimes all at once, and they go home with a set that matches. Necklace, earrings, bangles, a ring.

We make sets to order, adjust pieces you already own so they sit properly beside the new ones, and hold things aside on deposit until the date. Bring a photograph of what you have in mind. Most of it we can make.

Everything in the cabinet is 21 or 22 carat. That is what our customers ask for, and that is what we keep.

Walk in, try it on, and watch it weighed.

What’s in the cabinet

Prices move with the daily gold rate, so we don’t print them. Ask about a piece and we’ll weigh it and tell you on the spot.

The shop floor at Aroos Jewellers: the full run of glass counters, the lit wall cases of gold sets behind them, and two benches on the timber floor

Twenty-one and twenty-two carat

Everything in the case is high-carat gold, weighed and quoted at the counter. Stock turns over weekly, so what is here this Saturday is not what was here last.

Macro of hand-worked 22 carat gold: granulation, twisted wire scrollwork and a polished facet

Twenty-one ortwenty-two.

The carat number is simply how much of the metal is gold. It is the first thing to settle, because it changes the colour, the price and what the piece is worth if you ever sell it back.

22 carat 91.6% gold
The deepest colour. Traditional bridal and gift gold.
21 carat 87.5% gold
A little harder, holds detail well. Common across the Gulf.
18 carat 75% gold
The fine end of the chain-store counter. Paler, harder wearing.
9 carat 37.5% gold
Mostly other metals. Very little gold to sell back.

We keep 21 and 22 because that is what our customers ask for. It is softer than 18, so the work is made heavier to carry it, which is also why these pieces are weighed rather than ticketed. The full gold guide →

The set,not the piece.

Bridal gold is bought together. The necklace has to sit with the earrings, the bangles have to carry the same pattern, and it all has to be ready for a date that will not move.

Come in early. We’ll go through what you already own, match the new work to it, and hold pieces aside on deposit until the week of the wedding. If something needs resizing before the day, that happens here.

  • Sets matched across necklace, earrings, bangles and ring
  • New work made to sit with pieces you already have
  • Held on deposit until the date
  • Resizing and final fitting before the day

How gold is pricedhere.

Three numbers, and you watch all three go on. Two of them move every morning, which is why nothing here carries a ticket price.

the weightread off the pan in front of you×today’s rateset by the market that morning+the makingagreed before any work starts

That is the whole formula. It is the same one we use when you sell gold back, minus the making.

On the scale, in front of you

The piece goes on the scale while you stand there. We apply the day’s rate for 21 or 22 carat and add the making charge. You see the number at the same moment we do.

Ring the shop and we will quote the piece you are actually looking at, at this morning’s rate rather than last month’s. How the sum works →

Bringing old gold in

Broken chains, single earrings, pieces nobody has worn in fifteen years. Bring them. We weigh them, tell you what they are worth at today’s rate, and take that straight off whatever you are buying.

You can also simply sell them to us. There is no obligation to buy anything on the way out. Old gold exchange →

Call and ask

Made to your photograph

A good part of what leaves this shop was not in the cabinet when the customer walked in.

Bring a photograph

A picture on your phone, a drawing, or a piece you already own. Anything that shows what you mean is enough to start.

We quote it by weight

We work out roughly what the piece will weigh, apply the day’s rate for 21 or 22 carat, and add the making charge. You get the number before anything begins.

Deposit, then made

A deposit holds the gold at that rate. The work is done at the bench here.

Fitted before you take it

Sizing and adjustment happen in the shop, so it leaves fitting properly.

Turnaround depends on the piece; ask when you bring the photograph. How an order works →

Most small jobs are done here at the bench rather than posted away, so you are usually waiting [days, not weeks: confirm].

  • Ring resizing, up or down
  • Chain and clasp repair
  • Re-stringing and re-threading
  • Cleaning, polishing and rhodium
  • Custom pieces from your drawing or photo

Before you come in

The things people ask at the counter. If yours isn’t here, ring the shop and ask.

What carat gold do you sell?

21 and 22 carat. That is what our customers ask for. It is deeper in colour than the 9 and 18 carat sold in the chain stores, and worth more by weight if you ever sell it back.

Why aren’t there prices on this website?

Because gold is priced by weight against the day’s rate, and that rate moves daily. A printed price would be wrong by the time you read it. Ask about a piece and we will weigh it and tell you on the spot.

Can I buy from you online?

No. Everything is sold in the shop. Gold at this carat is bought by weight and by eye. You should hold it, see the colour and watch it go on the scale.

Do you do repairs?

Yes. Resizing, chain and clasp repair, re-stringing, cleaning, polishing and rhodium. Most small jobs are done here at the bench rather than posted away.

Can you make something to order?

Yes. Bring a photograph on your phone, a drawing, or a piece you already own. We will quote it by weight before anything starts.

Are you open on Mondays?

No. We are open Tuesday to Sunday, 10:30am to 6pm.

Do you buy gold, or take old gold in part exchange?

[confirm with the owner: this is the single most asked question and is currently answered nowhere online]

How can I pay?

[confirm: card, cash, deposit and layby terms]
