A pendant is the piece that says something: a name, a verse, a photograph shut inside a locket. It hangs from a chain the family already owns or one weighed the same day, and most are made to order rather than bought off the tray.
A name, cut ineither script.
Most pendants begin as a name. It is written down at the counter, in Arabic script or English, and the spelling is agreed before anything is cut. A pendant that says the wrong thing says it for decades.
Verses come next, pierced or engraved so the script itself is the pattern, and lockets close over a photograph and keep it. All of it is worked in the same 21 and 22 carat as the rest of the cabinet, and priced the same way: weight, at the day’s rate.

It will need something to hang from. A chain by the gram does the daily work; a necklace at the princess length carries it for the occasion.
