Ring resizing
Whether the ring needs letting out or taking in, it is fitted on the finger before it leaves.
Chain & clasp repair
A parted link rejoined, or a clasp that has stopped holding replaced with one that does.
Re-stringing
Pearls and beads moved onto fresh knotted thread before the old one gives way.
Cleaning
Years of wear lifted out of the pattern. Nothing comes off the weight.
Polishing
Fine scratches worked back to a bright surface at the wheel.
Rhodium plating
White gold re-plated when the warmer colour underneath begins to show.
Stand-in
The look, then the quote.
Hand a piece over and it is looked at while you stand there. Under the loupe most repairs explain themselves in a minute: which link opened, whether the clasp is worth keeping, how far a ring can safely move.
Then the quote, before anything is touched. If a mend would cost more than the piece deserves, we say so at the counter. Sometimes the honest answer is a new chain, priced by the gram like everything else in the shop. The chains →

The longer answers
Resizing and polishing each carry a page of their own. The third page is for the piece past mending, because its gold still weighs what it weighs.
